Suffering of the Christ

Luke 22:63-65, Luke23:1-38, Mark15:16-20
“While keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus, the leader and perfecter of faith. For the sake of the joy that lay before him He endured the cross, despising its shame and has taken his seat at the right of the throne of God.
Hebrew 12:2-3
The life of Jesus Christ was full of sufferings, but the sufferings which were born by Jesus in the last days were very painful the sufferings of Jesus start from Gethsemane  garden.

First suffering: the Agony of the Soul. Luke22:44

Gethsemane means a cycle which is drawn by an ox who goes round and round.  Jesus was in the same situation at that time.

He said to them, “My soul is sorrowful even to death. Remain here and keep watch with me. “  His sweat became like drops of blood falling on the ground.  Agony of soul:  How much suffering for our sake!

2nd suffering: Betrayal of Judas
The betraying of Judas Iscariot (Iskayuli) Luke 22:48
“Jesus said to him, ‘Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?’ “
The faithful gave pain to Jesus by their insincerity and disloyalty.  Kissing, love, friendship, fellowship, sincerity — all are the signs of loyalty.
3rd suffering:  All the Disciples Went Away

Matthew 26:56 with the fears of the world.  The leaving of the Christians is a cause of pain to Jesus Christ.
4th suffering: Denial of Peter

The denying of Peter three times.  “I don’t know this man.” Matthew 26:72  Peter was the true friend of Jesus, who remained with Jesus all the time, but in particular times leaves Him alone and denies Him with the fear of the world.
5th suffering: Spitting on His Face
They spat on Him and He was mocked  by them (Mathew,Mark,Luke) These all were the symbols of hate.  They showed that all those hate him.
6th suffering: Jesus was Scourged

Mathew 27:26
Many strips were tied with the stick with which the culprits and criminals were beaten.  The leather was cut, but with these scourges men were died and Jesus was wounded.
7th suffering:  Jesus Christ was Rejected
Jesus Christ was rejected and the murderer called  “Barabbas” (Baraba) was accepted.  “Whom do you want me to release for you” They said, “Baraba.”   Mathew 27:21
This was their wrong thinking and choice that they ignored their sympathetic, kind friend and rejected Him.  When a believer prefers Satan, the world and the darkness of sin to Christ, he increases the suffering of the Lord.
8th suffering: Christ was mocked

Mathew 27:27-31
The whole crowd was gathered .
1. His clothes were put off and a purple robe was given to him to wear.
2. A crown of thorns was put on his head.
3. A reed was given in his hands.
4. They were mocking Him by bowing before Him.
5. He was spitted at by them.
6. They struck His head with a reed.  He was abased by them. A savage game was played. Christ was a playing toy before them.
9th suffering: Christ Lifted On the Cross

Christ was erected on the cross with nails.
The nails were thrust into his feet and hands.  How much great suffering was this!  Alive flesh was pierced with the nails and the blood was being shed from his head, hands and feet.  They pierced Him:
1. With scourges
2. With thorns
3. With nails
10th suffering:  The Passers Curse
The passers, chief priests rabbis and soldiers were cursing him.

11th  suffering: The Cry
He said with great cry on cross in a suffering situation. Mathew 27:46

12th suffering:  The Father Left Him

Matthew 27:46
“My God, my God, why have You forsaken me?”  The greatest suffering:  He was forsaken, so that we would not be forsaken.
